What should happen to the demand for travel and tourism products during a recession?
Friday, November 28th, 2008How can Electromagnetic Radiation travel without a medium?
Thursday, November 27th, 2008If Electromagnetic Radiation can travel through the vacuum of space then it can travel without a medium, but shouldn’t this be imposable? Or is it true that Electromagnetic Radiation uses the medium of existing magnetic fields, such as earths, distorting these fields much like sound waves do to air? And if so how can this have a direction of travel?

How can I travel as a teen for cheap and experience culture, but sill be safe?
Thursday, November 27th, 2008I am looking to travel to Ireland for a couple weeks this summer. I have investigated several programs that allow me to go and stay with a host family, which is what i want. However, I want to make the most sound decision, economically and safety wise. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How much more should one be compensated for excessive travel for a job?
Wednesday, November 26th, 2008I accepted a job a year ago that involved very little travel (10-20 days a year). Since then my job description has changed and my duties require me to travel 120 day per year or more, with trips sometimes lasting up to 3 weeks working an average of 15 hours per day, 6 or 7 days per week. Does anyone know of any resources that may help calculate an average of how much more travel jobs generally pay more than in office jobs.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks for the input. In my experience if a company is hiring for two positions, same job,(ex. Project Manager) where one position works out of the office and the other is required to travel extensively, the pay for those two position will differ due simply to the fact that it there is a smaller pool of potential employees willing to travel when they can find a similar position at similar pay, that does not require travel.
In my case, I have colleagues with the same job and qualifications who aren’t required to travel and have a similar salary. This was justified when I was an office employee but now that I’m a travel employee and am required to travel extensively, it seems fair that I would be compensated at a higher level.
I’m going to ask for a raise, i just need to figure out how much and put together a justification to present to my boss, i.e. you’d have to pay X$ to hire for my original position and X% more to hire for my current travel position.
thanks

How do we control faster than the speed of light travel?
Monday, November 24th, 2008Apparently, we can travel faster than the speed of light they say. Its like the universe expanding faster than the speed of light. The analogy I heard is ants on the surface of a balloon, they don’t move but the baloon expands and they become farther apart (traveling at the balloon expansion speed which represents the universe expanding). I am not sure if I understand all this. Has someone got a scientific explanation in simple words for a non-scientist? Thanks.

Do you have any fun camping, hiking and travel recipes for Summer snacks?
Sunday, November 23rd, 2008My family is planning a lot of camping, hiking and local travel to recreation areas this Summer. I am wanting to put together a list of ideas and recipes for some easy fun trail mixes, camping, hiking and travel food that my children can help me prepare.. Snacks and foods that carry easy with little to no mess or a lot of clean up, store easy and won’t melt or go bad fast in the Summer heat… Kid friendly snacks would be great! Thank you in advance.. Have a great Summer!

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008What type of education does a travel agent need?
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008What type of education do you need to be a travel agent? Where can you study the program (like what type of schools/where, etc.)? Do you get a certificate, degree, diploma? Are there any publications that might have job openings available in this field, or do you have to open your own business? (I never really see advertised travel agency job openings.) I have already graduated college but am considering a career change. This is something I’m curious about, so any info would be helpful.
